Clear systems.
Reliable support.
Real partnership.
I think in wholes, notice misalignment before I can articulate it, and connect what others keep separate: teams, organizations, systems, ideas.
The people who find me most useful tend to be the ones who've felt like their situation is more complex than their current support can hold. People whose books don't reflect their reality, or whose partnerships have outgrown the agreements they started with, or who just need someone to hold the whole picture while they figure out what to do next. That includes people who are just starting out, still tracking business finances in a personal account, figuring it out as they go.
Much of my work over the last decade has been with bootstrapped companies. Cash flow management for lean operations is where I'm most in my element. I know what it means to build something real without outside funding, and I know how to make the numbers work when every decision has weight.
When it comes to your finances, you'll get precision, honesty, and someone who takes the trust you're placing in me seriously. Outside of that, I'm pretty human. The resume can look intimidating. If you want to know what working with me is actually like, the testimonials on this page and my recommendations on LinkedIn will tell you more than I can.
I work best when the relationship is honest on both sides. If that's you, I'd like to hear from you.

“I'm not your typical accountant.” — from Substance Over Form on Almost Structured
Business Systems & Bookkeeping
For solopreneurs and small businesses who need their financial infrastructure working. Clean books, accurate financials, and systems built for how you actually operate, not how someone else thinks you should.
I set up and maintain the systems so you can stop managing the chaos and start running your business.
- Pre-QuickBooks consultation & early-stage setup guidance
- Spreadsheet trackers for solopreneurs (one-time engagement)
- QuickBooks Online setup, cleanup & maintenance
- Payroll configuration & support
- POS & app integrations
- Business structure guidance
- Decision trees & org charts
- Ongoing bookkeeping
A note on taxes: I handle sales tax and payroll tax as part of bookkeeping and systems work. I do not prepare income tax returns. If you need an income tax preparer, I'm happy to point you in the right direction.
This service is built around QuickBooks Online. If you're not on QBO yet, setup is the first step and is included in the engagement. Payroll requires a platform. I work with QBO Payroll, Gusto, and others. If you don't have one yet, we'll identify the right fit during the consult.
Sales tax: I am familiar with Wisconsin requirements and can request accountant access in most states. Research into state-specific requirements outside Wisconsin is a paid service. If your sales tax situation is highly complex, we'll discuss the scope during the consult.
This is fully remote, async-first work. I don't need to be in your office, and you don't need to be available in real time. What I do need is organized, secure digital access to your accounts, statements, and systems. If you're not there yet, that's something we can work on together.
I maintain a written data security policy. Your data is encrypted, access is minimal and temporary, and I do not retain credentials or system access after an engagement ends. Learn how I protect your data →
Free 30-minute consult with completed intake questionnaire. All time beyond 30 minutes is a paid engagement. The intake form is how I show up to our conversation already oriented, and it makes the 30 minutes actually useful to you.

For small to mid-sized organizations that need senior financial thinking, the kind that holds complexity and translates it into decisions you can actually make.
I evaluate initiatives, build models, analyze trade-offs, and communicate findings clearly to people who need to make good decisions under uncertainty. You get rigorous analysis and clear recommendations without having to hire a full-time senior finance person to get there.
- Cost-benefit & ROI analysis
- Financial modeling & forecasting
- Cash flow projections & management
- Budgets & proformas
- Budget & variance analysis
- Executive financial communication
- Risk & assumption assessment
- Fractional Controller engagements
The right engagement here is a partnership. You bring the context and the decisions that need to be made. I bring the systems-thinking, analytical rigor, and clear direction. If that sounds like what you need, I'd like to hear from you.

Making the implicit explicit — before you commit.
Some decisions need more than a spreadsheet and more than a gut feeling. They need someone who can hold the whole picture, surface what's actually being weighed, and help you reach clarity before you act.
I work with individuals and organizations at decision points — a hiring decision with real financial consequences, a business partnership that needs alignment before legal drafting begins, an agreement where the parties think they're saying the same thing but aren't. If there's a significant decision in front of you and you need someone to think it through with, this is what I do.
- Business partnership agreements
- Operating agreements & equity structures
- Co-founder & collaborator arrangements
- Any agreement needing alignment before legal drafting
This process works when everyone approaches it with openness, honesty, and genuine intentions. I can find the through-line between different needs and perspectives, but I can't work with hidden agendas. If all parties are willing to say what's actually true for them, we can get somewhere real.
I am not an attorney, and this is not legal advice. What I bring is the innate ability to listen to each person's concerns and find the through-line. This is the conversation that makes the legal process faster, cleaner, and less expensive.
